BOND UNIVERSITY WAS JUST VOTED #1 ON BUZZFEED AS THE PLACE TO GO TO STUDY ABROAD! http://www.buzzfeed.com/laraparker/the-best-places-to-study-abroad
Since I'm still waiting on pictures from my Mojo Surf Camp Trip and I haven't blogged in over a week let me tell you a little bit about Bond University. Bond University was Australia's first private, non-profit university. All of the academic buildings are made from sandstone and there's a man-made lake with bullsharks, the Uni's mascot.
The campus seemed huge when I first arrived but its actually around the same size as Endicott College. I think its feels bigger because the buildings are just so much taller and more elaborate. It's nice that it's small campus because all of my classes are in the same building and just like at Endicott, walking to class takes five minutes, maximum.
Everyone in Australia says "uni" when referring to school. Whenever anyone American says "school" they say that they think of lower level schooling, like elementary, and therefore haven't been in "school" for a while.
Here at Bond University, I am taking Intro to Finance, Cost Management Systems, Intro to Philosophy and Wine Studies. I have most of my classes twice a week for two hours, except Wine studies is once a week for three hours. Now you may think Wine Studies would be all fun and games, but no, supposedly it is one of the hardest courses offered on campus; the professor, Steve, is VERY passionate about wine and he means business. Intro to Philosophy makes my head spin but at least I don't have a final in the course, just papers. My Cost Management Systems is probably the most diverse with people from England, India, and China just to name a few. (However, my Professor is from America.) I don't really have much to say about Intro to Finance other than it's my largest class and is definitely lectured style, with the smaller tutorial for going over homework. I will be graded in these courses based on the following system:
HD- High distinction, 85-100
D- Distinction, 75-84
C- Credit, 65-74
P- Pass, 50-64
F- Fail, 0-49
