Finally a month after surfing, Mojo Surf Camp decided to put pictures up. We first learned the basics to surfing on the beach; we traced out surfboards in the sand with our fingers and then practiced paddling. "Paddle, paddle, paddle... okay the wave is at your toes! Three more strokes, 1,2,3 STAND!" Back foot first up to the middle and then the right foot in front. Basically that was all there was to it and then we were in the water.
The first thing we saw when we walked into the water with our surfboards was a stingray honestly, no more than 5 feet away from me and just inches from my friend Brooke! And later we saw a dolphin, which at first you may question to be a shark... SCARY.
Well anyways back to business, the first couple of waves I needed help from the Mojo Surf Camp leaders but after a few waves I was surfing solo. I caught myself smiling like the biggest moron when I caught my first wave entirely on my own.
But what a work out! After the first day I could barely move my arms and the Sunday night I got back to campus I went to bed at 6 pm and got up at 7 am the next morning. It was exhausting but one of my favorite trips so far.
